[Also in Division B3] In a brush making machine, work piece holders, on support linkages, are mounted on moveable trolleys, which are each guided successively beneath the drilling and filling tools and can be transferred, intact with their filled brush stocks, to a bristle combing and trimming station in the machine. In one form, blank stocks are secured to flats 48, 47, which are pivotally supported at 50, 49, on frame 51. Frame 51 is pivoted at 52, 53 to the walls of a trolley running on rails 20. The flats 47 and 48 are tilted in unison, about two mutually perpendicular axis, by means of follower rollers 66, 69 engaging displaceable bars 74 and 73 and H-shaped link 58, 59, 60, interconnecting arms 54, 55, 56 amd 57. Bell-crank lever 63 has a finger 62 riding in slot 61, to effect tilting about pivots 49, 50, and lever 68 actuates arm 67, to effect tilting about pivots 52, 53. Bars 73, 74 are displaced by the rotation of cams 75 and 76. Rails 20 may be mounted to move vertically, under the control of a compensating cam 97 (Fig. 13, not shown). The trolleys are moved along the rails 20, by means of pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical rams. They may be locked in the operative positions. In order to provide a continuous succession of trolleys along rails 20, the trolleys containing completed brushes are inverted in rotary drum (27, Fig.11, not shown) and returned along rails (21) to the input end of the machine. After passing over a transversely moveable combing and trimming apparatus (43), the trolleys run, from rails (21), on to a further rotary drum (26) for return to the upright position, beneath blank stock magazines (1, 2). Alternative turn-round mechanisms are described.
