1419956 Knitting machines COURTAULDS LTD 11 May 1973 [12 May 1972] 22330/72 Heading D1C A V-flat machine includes on a support moving with the cam boxes at least one presser foot which is reset to an appropriate position during overrun and return at the ends of its traverse. The presser feet 11-12; 13-14 of a two system machine are carried by arms 27, 28 pivotally mounted between plates 15, 18 of the support 9. The V-shaped upper ends of the arms cooperate with pins 57, 58 fixed to a rack slider 51. The slider 51 is reciprocated by a further slider 22 via pinions 66, 68. The slider 22 carries an abutment 61 (62 not shown) at each end for striking fixed stops. A further rack slider 25 carrying abutments 72 (74) is in driving communication via pinions 77, 82, 83 with slider 22. Towards the right-hand end of a traverse an abutment (62) on slider 22 strikes a stop, thereby moving the slide to the left relative to the support. Consequential movement of slider 51 bring the arms 27, 28 to an upright position. Mean while abutment 72 on slider 25 has passed below a catch. On return of the support, movement of slider 25 to the right relative to the support swings the arms until they strike stops 38, 40 thereby bringing feet 12, 14 into operative position. Abutment 72 is released from the catch by abutment 85, or a cam track (102 Fig. 2 not shown) fixed to the support. Feet 11, 13 are similarly brought into operative position at the left-hand end.
