Abstract
1.164,913. Jig washers. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 25 Aug., 1967 [12 Sept., 1966], No. 39160/67. Heading B2H. In a jig washer, Figs. 1 and 2, having a screen 4 above which the material is separated under the action of pulsating water into a layer L of light components and a layer T of heavy components, the light components are discharged into a trough 2 while the heavy components which move over the screen in the same direction as the light components pass under a member 7 and the trough 2 and are discharged by flowing over a ledge 3. A water or air current may be introduced through a side pipe 8 for controlling the amount of heavy components discharged. The trough 2 may be inclined, as shown, or it may be provided with a screw for facilitating discharge of the light components therefrom. In Fig. 3, the light components are discharged into a trough 2 which has extensions in the longitudinal direction of the jig so that the heavy and light components are discharged inthe same direction. Instead of using a water or air current to control the discharge of the heavy components, the degree of pulsations of the water in the vessel 5 may be controlled or mechanical means, e.g. rotary arms of a discharging wheel, may be used. Two or more jigs may be mounted in series side by side or one below the other to separate more than two components from one another. In another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), three components are separated from one another, the light and medium as in Figs. I and 2, and the heavy by a bucket lift.
