Abstract

1,164,164. Switch contacts. PERITUS A.B. 2 Sept., 1966 [22 Sept., 1965], No. 39301/66. Heading H1N. A switch-gear contact with electrodynamic reinforcement of contact pressure, comprises a resiliently mounted pivotal part 23, Fig. 1, for abutting engagement with contact 26 and supported on a rigid part 13-17 having portions 16, 17 substantially at right angles, with the part 16 parallel and close to the pivotal part 23 so that the current assists contact pressure. In breaking circuit the contact 23 is tilted by spring 29 so that the leading edge 25 first makes contact before a break is made at the raised portion 24 so that arcing at the portion 24 is avoided. Owing to the hairpin shape of the current path the arc tends to be blown outwards by the electrodynamic forces.
