Abstract

116,404. Dykes, B. J. Aug. 3, 1917. Stretching tubular goods upon internal frames. -A gauge or expander A for use in feeding tubular fabrics to ironing or calendering rollers is made in halves, each half comprising two sheetmetal plates, between which is secured a doublearm plate B having a pair of crossed links L, L' pivoted at F, F' to the corresponding crossed links of the other plate. The pivots F, F' are adjustably secured in slots G in a pair of crosspieces C having guide-arms C' for the plates B. The cross-pieces C may be secured to a support P. To adjust the expander to. the required width of the fabric to be ironed or calendered by the rolls R, nuts securing the pivots in the slots G are loosened, thus allowing the halves of the expander A to be moved outwards or inwards; or the expander may be fixed at any desired width by means of a bolt and nut D adapted to press the cross-pieces C together to hold the links between them.
