23,045. Marchant, W. Nov. 2. Pressing.- Hosiery and other fabrics, such as vests, pants, &c., are finished by being pressed between a series of hollow or chambered beds A, while stretched on shapes. The top and bottom beds are fixed to the vertical bars B, while the intermediate beds are mounted on slotted links D, on which the beds hang, normally, at a slight distance from one another. The beds are fitted with elastic or flexible steam inlet and outlet pipes, and each bed is provided with an internal partition, which does not quite reach to the far side, to cause the circulation of the steam. The pressure is effected by a hydraulic ram G, which is connected with the lower of the movable beds.
