Abstract

116,364. Ritchie, H. R. June 12, 1917. Steering and balancing.-In aeroplanes in which the tail-surfaces are rotated about a longitudinal axis for lateral balancing, the tail-plane and elevator b are carried by rings a rotatable on rings c fixed to the body, the rotation being effected by connexions to the rudder-bar, which for this purpose is mounted to oscillate in a vertical plane, in addition to the usual fore-and-aft oscillation for controlling the rudder. According to the Provisional Specification, the elevator alone may be rotatably mounted.
