Abstract
25,752. Leib, A. Nov. 11. Steering and balancing.-In an aeroplane in which the wings are freely rotatable on the body z, Fig. 1, about the longitudinal axis of the machine, the rudder cords are arranged so as not to be affected by the relative movement of the parts. The rudder shaft B, Fig. 2, is connected to the body carrying the wings by a universal joint C and is provided with a sleeve E to which the actuating- cords m are attached. The cords pass over pulleys P on a ring M rotatable within a ring D secured to the body. In another arrangement, the wings rotate on rings on the body, and the shaft of the rudder is mounted in a tube so as to follow the rotary motion of the wings. The tube is adjusted by the pilot.
