Abstract
1,163,316. Razors. WILKINSON SWORD Ltd. 23 Jan., 1968 [4 Nov., 1966], No. 49537/66. Heading B4B. A razor comprises vibration inducing means adapted to vibrate a cutting edge of the razor relative to the handle of the razor with an amplitude of between 1 and 2À5 x 10<SP>-2</SP> microns and at a frequency of between ten kilocycles/ second and two megacycles/second. The vibration inducing means effects vibrations of the cutting edge either in a direction parallel to the edge or perpendicular thereto, or at an angle between these limits. The vibration inducing means comprises electromagnetic or piezoelectric means which are energized from mains supply or battery. In a wet shave type razor, the blade may be vibrated relative to the frame or guard or the head may vibrate relatively to the handle. The vibration may be produced by an air turbine and eccentric mass. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,065,510.
