Abstract

1456202 Razor blade units WILKINSON SWORD Ltd 20 Nov 1973 [25 Nov 1972 6 March 1973] 54605/72 and 10908/73 Heading B4B A shaving unit comprises a substantially rigid member 12, 13 at least two razor blades 10, 11 each having at least one cutting edge and secured to the rigid member which provides a guard surface 13b located at a preset spacing from the cutting edges, the effective shaving angle D1 of the blade 11 being different from the effective shaving angle D2 of the other blade or blades. The cutting edges are spaced apart as shown in Fig. 2, by means of projections 13c, formed on the member 13 and extending through holes in the blade 11; alternatively the projections may be replaced by dimples (11a), Fig. 4 (not shown) on the blade 11. In further modifications, the spacing between the cutting edges may be provided by a plastics spacer between the blades or the facet angle of the cutting edges may be formed asymmetrically so as to thereby vary the distance between the actual cutting edges.
