Abstract

The plate has apertures separated from each other by barriers, each comprising a central portion joining onto the edges, which stand proud of the plane of the sheet round the apertures. The central portions (7) are thinner than the edges (7), and they can be made thus by grinding. The design allows the plate to be flexible, while keeping the edges thick enough to wear down slowly as the cutter blade (6) works against them. In addition, grinding off part of the central portion of each barrier allows the hairs to be cut off shorter thus gives a closer shave.
