Abstract
1,163,142. Air heating stoves. K. W. STOOKEY. 26 Sept., 1966 [24 Oct., 1965], No. 42832/66. Heading F4K. A regenerative blast air heating stove comprises a shell 14 containing a ceramic refractory mass 18 and surmounted by a frusto-conical combustion chamber 28 having a fuel/air mixer 50, combustion of the fuel and air mixture being completed in the combustion chamber 28 and the exhaust gases extracted through an outlet 26, and air to be heated being subsequently passed through the mass 18 from an inlet 24 to an outlet 76. Gaseous fuel is injected tangentially from a duct 36 into the mixer 50 and is controlled by an arcuate gate (42, Fig. 4), the combustion supporting air being drawn into the mixer 50 from a duct 32, and the fuel/air mixture flowing spirally into the combustion chamber 28. The combustion chamber 28 may replace a combustion chamber within the shell 14 of an existing stove.
