Abstract

1,162,795. Cartons for dispensing flowable material. WILLIAM THYNE Ltd. 10 Feb., 1967 [12 Feb., 1966], No. 6309/66. Heading B8P. A carton, having an integral internal measuring tube 24, is erectable from a single blank and has a portion tearable to form a pouring spout capable of being closed after pouring to prevent further escape of material. As described, the panels 13, 14, 15 are folded to form the tube 24 and the panels 10, 11, 21 folded to be perpendicular to panel 12, Figs. 2-6 (not shown). The flaps 131, 10<SP>1</SP> are then folded in and the extension 21 stuck to the panel 13. The closure panels 10<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP> at the spout end are stuck together and flaps 11<SP>2</SP>, 13<SP>2</SP> stuck to the carton sides. After filling, the other end is similarly closed. To dispense material, tabs 22 and 13<SP>2</SP>, which have been stuck together, are pulled outwardly, breaking tear lines 19, 23 and 27 and pulling out tab 16 about hinge line 17. Simultaneously, tab 13<SP>1</SP> slides out between flaps 10, 12<SP>1</SP> and flap 26, complete withdrawal of tab 16 being prevented by a notch 28. The pulled out parts then define a replaceable pouring spout hingeable about fold line 18.
