Abstract

1,162,681. Knotting yarn ends in winding machines. LEESONA CORP. 22 Aug., 1966 [20 Aug., 1965], No. 37459/66. Heading D1J. To prevent multiple yarns being fed to a knotter, the yarn is fed between a cutter blade 80 Fig. 6 and an anvil 54, there being a pin 92 on the anvil against which the yarns Y1, Y2 are drawn to cause the yarns to stack one on the other so as to present the greatest cross-sectional dimension transversely to the gap between the blade 80 and anvil 54 the resulting jamming of the textile material between the cutting edge of the blade 80 and the anvil 50 causes pivotal movement of the blade towards the anvil. The blade 80 is pivotally mounted in a head portion 81 that is adjustably spaced from the anvil 54 by an adjusting screw 77, there being spring means 68 for biassing the head portion towards the anvil 52. In a modified construction, Fig. 9 (not shown) the pin (92<SP>1</SP>) is chamfered so as to taper or bevel inwardly as the pin extends upwardly. In a further modified construction, Fig. 12 (not shown) the pin 92 is replaced by a leg (140) carried by the arm that is formed With the head portion housing the blade.
