1,162,098. Brazing. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. NAVY, SECRETARY OF THE. 1 Sept., 1966, No. 39008/66. Heading B3R. [Also in Division C7] The following alloys are used to bond graphite to graphite or ceramics, or ceramics to ceramics, at elevated temperature, the proportions being in per cent by weight: Ta 95, Be 5; Ti 90, Nb 10; Ti 70, V 30; Ti 53, Cr 47; Ti 95, Mo 5; Ti 85, Ta 15; Ti 68, Fe 32; Zr 80, Ta 20; Zr 82, Cr 18; Zr 70, V 30; Zr 78, Nb 22; V 85, Be 15; Nb 95, Be 5; Cr 66, Nb 34; Cr 66, Ta 34; Mo 95, Be 5; Mo 80, Cr 20. Applications are in the aerospace, nuclear reactor, and electron-tube fields. Brazing is effected in vacuo or inert atmosphere and cooling is effected in the furnace.
