Abstract

1,161,157. Sewing machines. J. & P. COATS Ltd. 16 Feb., 1967 [16 Feb., 1966], No. 7516/67. Heading D1G. The bobbin case in a lock stitch sewing machine has a thread storage pocket defined by a circular wall and an end wall, and means are provided retaining the bobbin case within a recess in a bobbin case carrier by removably engaging a portion of the thread case carrier. A radially-slidable latch plate on the end wall of the bobbin case is spring- biased to an end position, whereby a nose 25 on said plate may enter an aperture 27 in the side wall of a stationary bobbin case carrier, and be retained therein by a rim 28 of the bobbin case carrier. A lever 26, associated with the latch plate, may be raised for withdrawing nose 25 from aperture 27 to release the bobbin case. The pocket in the thread case may either have a central pin for journalling a bobbin, or be without the pin for accommodating a thread cop.
