In a suspended ventilating ceiling ventilating slots are defined by panel support bars 1 of upwardly directed channel form. which have apertures for the flow of air in the lower web 7 with at least one tongue 10 adjacent to each aperture. An apertured shutter strip 18, Fig. 7 (not shown) may be slidably housed in the bar 1 above the web 7 for controlling the quantity of the flow of air. Air impermeable panels secured between adjacent fears are received at their edges between flange pairs 4, 5 and 3, 6. The lower faces of the panels may be covered by facing panels or strips, Figs. 1, 2, and 6 clipped to elongated support members beneath and at right angles to the bars 1, the bars 1 being situated above spaces between adjacent pairs of such panels or strips. In another embodiment, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) conventional ceiling tiles 12 are supported from the bars 1 by the ends of cross bracing members on the upper surfaces of the tiles, and are covered by a heating sheet and thermal insulation. The apertures in the web 7 and the tongues 10 are located in gaps between adjacent tiles 12.
