Abstract

1278521 Ceiling or wall covering G J MAC GRATH and L P MAC GRATH 29 May 1969 [30 May 1968] 27158/69 Heading E1W In a ceiling (or wall) construction tiles or panels are mounted between and supported by parallel spaced sheet metal members 1 or 2 which are supported by and connected to parallel spaced T-section sheet metal members 3 arranged at right angles to the members 1, the whole construction being supported by adjustable sheet metal hangers, each formed of a part 16 engaging the member 3 and having an open-ended slot in which is slidable a part 24 (Figs. 2, 3 not shown) engaging the roof (or wall) support. The hanger members may be of nesting flanged V-section (Figs. 3a, 3b not shown) and may be held in the selected position by bending over slit portions of the flanges of both members. The members 3 may have holes 7 in which engage projections 14a, 14b on a spring clip seated on the upper part of the tile supporting members 1 or 2. These members may also be of T-section, the members 1 being identical with the members 3 with their T-bar flanges engaging in marginal grooves of the tiles which may be either solid mineral tiles 5 or sheet metal tiles 4 with interengaging abutting edges as in Specification 1272944, while the members 2 having a sprung stem to the T receive metal tiles 4a. The members 1 may be connected in line by rods engaging in the beads 13, and may include fusible links permitting expansion without buckling in case of fire. Additional supporting and locating elements, such as bars 6 and clips attached to the members 1, may be provided for the tiles and cover strips may be applied over the lower faces of the members 1 and bars 6.
