Abstract
1,159,534. Wells &c. MINERALIMPEX MAGYAR OLAJES BANYATERMEK KULKERESKEDELMI VILLALAT. 17 Aug., 1967, No. 38031/67. Heading E1F. A .borehole is sealed by lowering to the required depth a sealing device comprising an expandable jacket 15 defining a chamber which can be pressurised from a pressure storagechamber in the device, or by a pressure amplifier in the device and subjected to the borehole pressure. As shown, a valve 3 is opened at the required depth by an electrical pulse, or geothermal heat, clock-work, or chemical means. The differential piston 7, 9, produces high pressure in chamber 10, to expand the jacket 15 through non-return valve 12 and seal the borehole. The running line 2 is then .pulled to snap base plate 6b off of rods 17, and rupture duct 11, to leave the seal behind. For retrieval of the seal, a fishing head on line 2 is engaged with head 19, and the line is pulled. Flange 19a separates from the seal body, fracturing pipe 20 by abutments 21, to release the jacket pressure, and then engages heads 22 to enable the seal to be withdrawn. In an alternative, Fig.; 2 (not shown), a soft metal plug is located in a duct between a high pressure storage chamber and the jacket, .and is fused to effect sealing.
