Abstract

1,158,441. Screening-apparatus. BELOIT CORP. 20 Jan., 1967 [14 Feb., 1966], No 3063/67. Heading B1D. A screening-apparatus for paper pulp comprises an upper inlet 14, two cylindrical screens 51, 55, axially and radially spaced and operating in parallel, the downstream sides of the screens opening into different outlet chambers, and two sets of rotary vanes 23, 32 mounted on a common hub 24 and keeping the screens from clogging in use. An involute trough 15 divided by dependent baffle 18 provides a preliminary settling stage, with solids outlet 60, and another rejects outlet 62 is provided at the lower end of screen 55. Outlet 40 is an air vent. Screens 51, 55 may be similar in porosity or different to provide two grades of accepts pulp. Inlets 63 deliver diluting water to the space upstream of screen 55.
