Abstract

1279959 Mixers LADISH CO 3 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 12622/71 Heading B1C In a powered blender particulate material and liquid are separately fed through concentric tubes 28, 22 into the casing of the blender. The inner tube 28 and the outer 22 are so arranged in the casing that material from the tube 28 and liquid from the tube 22 are discharged into the deeply recessed eye 13 of the impeller 11 of the blender and remain separated from one another when crossing the eye 13 until just before entering between the blades 12 of the impeller for thorough mixing thereby. The mixture of material and liquid is collected at the outer periphery of the impeller for tangential discharge from the casing of the blender 10. Associated with the tube 28 is a particulate material-receiving hopper 38 and a flap valve 40 for controlling rate of flow of material from the hopper. One or more liquids are discharged tangentially into the tube 22 through one or more ports 29 to swirl down between the tubes 28, 22 until directed radially across the eye 13 by a curved flange 35 so formed on the tube 28 above the lower end thereof that it will be located in the blender below the lower end of the tube 22. The blended material and liquid on leaving the impeller pass through a screen positioned in the casing about the impeller.
