Abstract

115,841. Leuven, A. P. van. May 15, 1917, [Convention date]. Saddles.-Bicycle saddles having a pair of similar air cushions or pads 3 upon a frame or support 1 are provided with a cover 5 made in one or two pieces, the cover being fastened to the support as at 6 between the cushions and detachably secured to the rim of the support at its outer edge. The inflating-valve 4 for each cushion passes down through the supporting-frame, which may be flat or may be concave to correspond to the form of the cushions. Part of the space between the support and the cover may be filled by other means than the air cushion. As shown in Fig. 2, the edge of the cover carries a wire 8, which at its ends is provided with eyes 9 to engage with pins or hooks 10 at the front and back of the rim 2 of the support. In order to keep the edge of the cover in position in the inwardly curved parts 11<a>, Fig. 3, of the rim, the wire is bared at these points and engaged beneath lips or hooks 11 cut out from the rim.
