[Also in Division H2] An electric dry shaver comprising a detachable shaving head 24, Fig. 1, and a long hair trimmer 38 includes a pair of cup-shaped members 26, 28 which abut to form a motor housing 30, Fig. 3, in which is mounted a motor 32 from which the head 24 is driven by a first drive means and from which the trimmer 38 is driven by a second drive means, the trimmer being secured to the housing 30, and a cover 34 which has a first opening 34a through which the first drive means extends and a second opening 34f through which the trimmer 38 extends, the cover 34 having means for detachably securing the head 24 thereon. The cover has abutments 34b, 34c which have opposed parallel walls 34d, 34e between which the head 24 is received, the head being retained on the cover by means of detent pins 130, Fig. 9, which are biased by means of springs 132 each having a loop surrounding a boss 34g on the bottom of the cover. The casing members 26, 28 are secured together in abutting relationship by bolts 52, Fig. 5, by a guide pin 79 engaging a cylindrical opening 80 and by interengaging projections 81, 82 and 83, 84. The cover is secured to the easing members by means of bolts 104. The head 24 comprises a comb 112 carried by an open supporting frame 108, Fig. 11, cutters 118 mounted on a plastics support 124 which is pivotally connected to the frame by means of trunnions 126 engaging a hinge pin 125, the support being held in a closed position by means of resilient projections 128. The frame comprises a pair of end-plates 110 interconnected by side walls 111 and has integral projections 113 for engaging openings 114 on the opposed edges of the comb. The frame is provided with a comb support bar 116 so that the comb is formed with a double arched configuration. The cutters 118 are reciprocated from the motor 32 by means of the portions 102a, Fig. 9, of a drive lever 102, Fig. 3. A plastics member 103 seals the cutter chamber from the motor housing. The trimmer 38 comprises a fixed plate 42 against which is biased a plate 48 which is reciprocated by means of an arm 74 which, when a clutch button 40, Fig. 1, is moved to the left, engages an armature pin 72, Fig. 3, thereby oscillating a radial arm (75), Fig. 6 (not shown), a member 76, Fig. 3, and a drive arm 58. The shaver is provided with a slidable guard 135, Figs. 15 and 16, having an end wall 135b, the guard having grooves 135c engaging ribs 136 on the walls 111. Each groove has a protuberance 135d to prevent the guard from being accidentally displaced when in its assembled position on the shaver. The motor housing is divided by an insulating wall 84, Fig. 3, which supports a plurality of motor lead terminals (101), Fig. 12 (not shown), a pair of power terminals 86, Fig. 3, and two switches 90, 98, the switch 90 being a pivotally-mounted voltage selector switch and the switch 98 being a slidable double-pole on-off switch.
