Abstract

1,157,853. Unit air coolers. CARRIER ENG. CO. Ltd. 23 Feb., 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 19652/67. Heading F4V. A unit air cooler 11 mounted in a room comprises a housing 1 containing one or, as shown, two fans 2, 2a driven by an air motor 3 supplied with high pressure high velocity outside air through a branch duct 4, the fans 2, 2a drawing air into the housing 1 from the room through a cooling device 6, and discharging the mixture of cooled air and air issuing from the motor 3 through outlets 8, 8a respectively. Each room of a building is provided with a unit 11, the branch ducts 4 being connected to a common supply duct from an air handling plant outside the building. The mixed air outlets 8, 8a are connected to ceiling outlets. The units 11 and the air handling plant may be provided with dampers and variable speed control devices respectively.
