Abstract

1,157,311. Air filter/gas separator. SIMMS GROUP RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 22 March, 1967 [23 Feb., 1966; 9 Aug., 1966], Nos. 7863/66 and 35590/66. Headings B1L and B1T. An air filter, for a vehicle ventilator intake, comprises a casing with two filter units 10, 11 mounted in series, each comprising a cylindrical sleeve with perforate end walls containing granular active carbon. The units slide into casing 12 from opposite ends to abut ridges 15, 16 and are held therein by outlet coupling 19 and inlet cover 17, incorporating gauze 18, which are both secured by screws to casing 12. Each unit is divided into four by two right-angled strips, and casing 12 has a bracket (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) whereby it is mounted in the engine compartment.
