Abstract

1,156,785. Twist tubes. KLINGER MFG. CO. Ltd. 19 Aug., 1966 [27 Aug., 1965], No. 36838/65. Heading D1D. A yarn false-twisting hollow spindle 21 is maintained in frictional driving contact with the peripheries of wheels 14, 15, rotatable on a shaft 10 and is supported by a fixed, permanent, horse-shoe magnet 20. The limbs 18, 19, straddle the shaft and the magnetic poles lie in a plane normal thereto and opposite a magnetic or magnetisable part of the spindle e.g. a cylindrical, laminated, soft-iron armature 22 through which the spindle extends, which is thereby drawn towards the shaft. Armature locators 23 with flanged edges 24 prevent wander of the spindle, from one position and also in an axial direction.
