Abstract

1,156,083. Simultaneous adjustment of clutches at a plurality of winding stations. BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 23 Feb., 1967 [23 Feb., 1966], No. 8683/67. Heading DID. In a textile winding apparatus each winding station includes an eddy current clutch, one element of which is rotatably driven by a driving element while the other element is secured to and drives the spindle, the clearance between the two clutch elements 1, 2 at each station being simultaneously adjusted by an adjusting means acting on one element of each clutch to move that element axially of the spindle. A chain drive 35 driven by a handle 9 may be used to rotate at each station a gear ring 7 fixed to a ring 6 which is internally threaded to co-operate with the screw thread on a flange 8 of the spindle, rotation of ring 7 causing axial movement of ring 6. The drive element 4 bearing a clutch element 2 is rotatably mounted on ring 6 by means of ball bearings 5 and is axially movable with the ring 6. In modifications of this embodiment one or both of the gear ring 7 and the drive element 4 is or are axially unmovable, whilst the clutch element is axially displaceable on rotation of gear ring 7. Alternatively the element 2 forms an axially immovable unit with the drive element while the other clutch element 1 is axially displaceable on the spindle by means of an eccentric or lever system common to the several stations (Figs 5-7, not shown).
