Abstract

1,154,543. Apparatus for developing electrostatic images. KALLE A.G. Oct.5, 1966 [Oct.6, 1965], No.44506/66. Heading G2H. An apparatus for developing latent electrostatic images comprises a nozzle 6 within a hollow bar 1 spaced from a hollow bar 2, the material carrying the image passing between the bars. The nozzle 6 may be slotted longitudinally or have a series of holes to produce a curtain or spray of developer supplied under pressure from a reservoir (not shown). The width of the slot may decrease along the length of the nozzle. The developer comprises a toner dispersed in a liquid carrier e.g. a hydrocarbon. Spaces 10 and 11 are subject to a small negative pressure such that excess developer or non-applied developer are removed. A voltage may be applied between the nozzle 6 and a roller (14 Fig.5 not shown). A conveyer belt (17 Fig. 1 not shown) conveys a sheet or web of electrophotographic material through an exposure and charging station. Rollers (15, 16) feed the sheet or web in a vertical plane through the developing apparatus.
