Abstract

1,153,615. Envelope folding and delivering apparatus. B. PAHLITZSCH. 1 June, 1966 [21 June, 1965], No. 24434/66. Heading B8R. [Also in Division B5] Lottery letters in the form of sealed envelopes are produced by feeding the lowermost envelope blank from under a stack 6 by a suction member 7 to a conveying roller 5 and then on to a roller conveyer 4 which advances the envelope blanks successively through a perforating device 8, blank edge glueing device 9 and a blank folding device 10, which folds the blanks into sealed envelopes, whose lateral marginal edges are then passed through milling and/or embossing devices 11, 12 to prevent tampering. The envelopes are then passed through a photoelectric counter 13, and the counted envelopes are stacked in an edge-on condition in an auxiliary stacking device 2, which is removably associated with the envelope producing machine 1 and includes a vertical roller conveyer 4 and a set of diverting rollers 14. In another embodiment in which the machine 1 produces a package containing an enclosure the stacking device 2 is replaced by an extension 16 which includes a magazine 17 containing the enclosures inserted into the envelopes having an unsealed flap by a reciprocating slide 18 operated by pivotal arm 19, when the envelopes are arrested periodically by a pivotal stop 21. Filled envelopes are then advanced into a recess of a striker 24 whereupon a reciprocating blade 25 folds and seals the open flap of the envelope in conjunction with a pair of rollers 23.
