Abstract

1,045,672. Feeding sheets. BLOCK & ANDERSON Ltd. April 24, 1963 [Jan. 24, 1962], No. 2678/62. Heading B6B. [Also in Division B8] In a machine for inserting documents into envelopes the envelopes 10 are supported in a hopper 11 which has a base aperture through which rollers 13, 14 driven by an oscillating sector gear 15b contact the lowermost envelope, and feed it from the hopper, via a discharge gate 16 having a slot provided by an adjustable plate 17, to rollers 19, 20. The envelope with its flap uppermost and the pointed edge thereof forwards is raised by three rotating or oscillating sector-shaped plates 27 into contact with flap-opening fingers 25. The envelope is drawn past the fingers as its leading edge is caught between the plates 27 and a roller 29, and then passes via rollers 21, 22 to an envelope filling position.
