A hair. dryer comprises a hood 1 having a circumferential duct 2 secured to its inner periphery adjacent to its edge which is connected to a warm air supply,-the air issuing from perforations 4 in the duct which is constructed of deformable material and is inflated when air flows through it. The air outlet 5 in the crown of the hood comprises a number of passages 6 extending into an outlet duct 7 which may be connected to an exhaust conduit. A second circumferential duct may be provided between the duct 2 and the outlet.
