A hair dryer cap comprises two flexible plastic layers each in the form of a closed head cover and sealed to each other along their bottom edges, the inner layer being perforate, and an air inlet opening in the outer layer for the admission of drying air to the space between the layers. Two sheets 1, 2 forming the cap are co-extensive, the apertures in the inner sheet being greater in number per unit area in regions remote from exhaust openings 6 formed near the lower edge of the rear of the cap and in the forehead portion. Heated air is supplied to space 3 between the layers by a hose 4 connected to the outer sheet. An elastic band 7 is stitched to the lower edge of the front and sides of the outer sheet and, in use, the cap is tightened about the head by draw strings 8 at the rear, lower edge of the cap being turned under in wear, so that the elastic band, which is covered in soft material, contacts the head. The portions of the sheets forming the lower edge of the cap are imperforate and are heat-sealed together along spaced seams to define a channel for the drawstrings and portions 14, 15, 16 which, in use, tie over the ears and bone portions of the head below the hairline. The portions 14, 15, 16 are separated from the space between the layer by the seams and thus do not become hot. In making the cap from two flat sheets of material, the portions of the peripheries of the sheets which do not form the lower edge of the cap are heat-sealed together along a double seam. Portions of this double seam are sealed together to form two darts which shape the cap and which diverge from the forehead to the crown. The cap is larger than the head so that, when the manifold is inflated, the perforated portion of the inner sheet lies closely against the hair and the imperforate portions 14, 15, 16 stand away from the head.
