HOOD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 781,232, dated January 31, 1905.
I Application filed November 1l, 1904:. Serial No. 232,269. l
To all whom t may concern: A
Be it known that I, HORACE A. SAKs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, in the City and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hoods, of which the'following is a specification.
The object ofl this present invention is to provide a hood which is So constructed'as to pro- Vide an effectual head, throat, and chest pro- I tector.
In the accompanying drawings, -Figurel representsv a plan View of the hood. Fig. 2
represents a side view of the lsame when inl use. Fig. 3 is a front View. Fig 4 is a rear view, and F1g. 5 1s another rear View 1n whlch the flaps are uncrossed at the back of the neck.
' The head portion of the hood isdenoted by 1', from which head portion depend flaps 2 and 3 of the length desired. A head-band 4 is secured to the top of the head portion l of the hood. This head portion l is made suiiciently full to give ample space at the back of the head for the hair of the wearer. Y VIn the form herein shown the fulled portion V is made 1 by puckering the top of the head portion and turning over the 'side edges lof the material and permanently uniting the top of the puckered portion of the top of the hood to the headband. This head-band 4 is made of suiicient drawings. One way of applying the hood to the head of the wearer is to place the top of Vthe head into the fulled portion of the hood,
`then ,pass the band 4 around the head and unite its ends at the back over the back of the heady portion. 'The flaps 2 and 3 are then Crossed at the back of ythe neck and brought around over the chest of the wearer, where the .said fiapsvmay be suitably united in any known manner. If desired, the flaps 2 and 3 need not be crossed at the back of the neck of the wearer, but may be led directly to the front and causedtov cover the chest of the wearer. v
The hood constructed as above described provides a very complete head and chest covering. It may be made of any suitable material, and theflaps may be of any length desired.
What I claim isl. Ahood'comprisingafulled head portion,
' flaps projecting therefrom and a head-band ar ranged to pass around the head of the wearer and overlap at the back'and means for securing the overlapping portions of the head-band together.
, 2. A hoodcomprising ahead portion,iaps
projecting therefrom and a head-band, the said head portion having its top edge puckered and its-:side edges folded over and per-v HORACE A. SAKS. Witnesses:
