1,152,615. Unwinding yarns from beams. FIBER INDUSTRIES Inc. 30 Nov., 1966 [9 Dec., 1965], No. 53538/66. Heading D1J. A beam having yarn wound thereon as a sheet made up of a large number of essentially parallel continuous multi-filament, zero twist, yarns spaced less than half an inch apart, has the yarns unwound in the form of said sheet and taken over a guide spaced from the beam before the yarns are separated from each other. Thus, in Fig. 2b, all the yarns leaving the beam first pass over a common bar 3 so that the yarns leave the beam in the form of a sheet. As illustrated the even yarns then pass over bars 4, 5 whilst the odd yarns leave via the bar 3, thus separating the yarns. The yarn may be of continuous filaments intermingled to give coherency to the yarn.
