Abstract

1,152,232. Two-part couplings. R. F. OXLEY. 16 June, 1966 [16 June, 1965], No. 25385/65. Heading H2E. A resilient socket comprises a tubular (brass) member 18 having two parallel-sided slots 14, 16 extending from its open end parallel to its axis whose sides comprise in a cross-sectional view (Fig. 1), parts of two parallel chords which both lie on the same side of the axis of the socket. The socket wall is inwardly compressed (Fig. 4) by a surrounding resilient sleeve 20, preferably of P.T.F.E., or by one or more resilient bands or U-shaped clips located in external grooves in member 18. The socket may be extended axially to provide a connection means for an electrical conductor. The two slots may be cut in a single cutting operation.
