Abstract

1,150,877. Holding and picking-up tools. L. T. ACCUMULATORS Ltd. 28 Nov., 1966 [2 Dec., 1965], No. 51298/65. Heading B4W. A device for carrying and lifting batteries comprises a pair of jaws 3 which are respectively adapted to engage the opposite side walls of a battery case each jaw being mounted on an arm 4 or 5 and the arms being shaped and arranged so that they are pivotally and adjustably interengaged, a lifting handle 7 being provided on one of the arms whereby lifting of the hand grip 7 urges the jaws to tightly grip the battery case. As shown, the adjustable connection between the arms comprises a series of teeth 8, formed on a horizontal portion 4a of the arm 4, which engage with the edge or an abutment in the slot 6 of the tubular arm 4. Each jaw consists of a channel-shaped metal housing 1a, 2a in which is secured a pad of rubber or similar material.
