Abstract

A rail lifting tool comprises an elongate steel body 1 having a handle at one end and a first jaw 6 fixed to the other end. A second jaw 4 is pivotally attached to the first jaw by a hardened steel securing bolt 2. The jaws are profiled to engage around either side of a head part of a section of rail track and have bar elements 5 at their extremities to make contact with the rail. In use the jaws are placed around the head part of a section of rail and on lifting of the handle the jaws are caused to move towards each other to grip on the rail for secure lifting.

Description

DESCRIPTION The line lifter consists of the following components as indicated on the drawings : 1. M. S. tube lifting handle.
2. Hardened steel securing bolt and nut applied to allow easy movement when in use.
3. M. S. square hollow section.
4. M. S. plate side supports.
5. M. S. round bar gripping bars.
6. M. S. pinning plate.
7. M. S. angle pinning support pieces.
GENERAL The line lifter is designed to lift rail track lines. The handle is designed to have a finished lifting position slightly below horizontal for ease of lifting. The gripping bar sections, one attached to the handle component, the other attached to the hollow section component, are secured by a pin, set to allow the opening and closing of the two components.
GENERAL When Itea 1 is pulled upright, items 5 grip inwards to create a camping action around the line. To release, Item 1 is lowered to a horizontal position allowing the tool to be released.

  1. CLAIMS LINE LIFTER LIFTING TOOL 1. A lifting tool for lift transproting rail line. onahandleacbaseunitrespectively. horizontal metal clamping bars are mounted on a handle and bas3e unit repectively.
    3. A lifting tool as clained in Clain 1 which has a vertical lever action pull handle bolted to the bzse unit.
    4. The lifting tool as claimed in any preceed claim whereupon the upward pulling of the handle allows the clamping bars to move agaiast the isdas of the rail line.
