Abstract

1,150,876. Connecting conductors carried by rotatable shafts. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 3 Nov., 1966 [5 Nov., 1965], No. 46994/65. Heading H2E. An electrical coupling comprises conductors 17, 18 and 19, 20 disposed in bores in shafts 11 and 10 respectively, the conductors having radially extending portions 17A, 18A, 19A, 20A such that they may be connected together in pairs as by bolts 14. End flanges 10A and 11A are connected together, for example by bolts, and the conductors are insulated from each other and from the shafts by insulation 21 to 26. Washer 15 and insulation 16 serve to keep the conductors in their relative positions and to ensure good contact at bolts 14. The coupling is of particular use in carrying the excitation current from an exciter to the field winding of a dynamo-electric machine carried on a shaft which is mechanically coupled end to end with the shaft carrying the exciter.
