Abstract

1,150,639. Tone-in-tone prints on synthetic polyamide-cellulosic fibres. CIBA Ltd. 22 Dec., 1966 [31 Dec., 1965], No. 57372/66. Heading D1B. Tone-in-tone prints on synthetic polyamidecellulosic fibre mixtures are obtained by (a) printing with a print paste having a pH of 5 to 9 and containing a water-soluble reactive dyestuff and an agent which liberates alkali when heated, drying and then steaming, (b) printing with a neutral printing paste, drying, steaming and heating in an electrolyte bath of pH 12-14 or (c) padding with a cold liquor of pH 12-14 containing an electrolyte and then steaming. Alkali liberating agents are sodium bicarbonate, ammonium carbonate or diammonium citrate and mixtures thereof, and azo, anthraquinone or phthalocyanine dyes, preferably containing halotriazine residues are used. The print paste may contain a solvent and/or dispersing agent. Pressure and continuous steamers are used.
