Abstract

[Also in Division F2] In a pump unit, an injection-moulded member 4, Fig. 1, arranged between a centrifugal pump 2 and its driving motor 1, is formed by shaping dies which move only in the axial direction. The member comprises a housing part 12 for a bearing 10 secured by a resilient retainer 13, and has formed therein a cavity which is closed by a seal 16 (see Division F2) and which contains a disc 17 for centrifugally discharging leakage through four circumferentiallyspaced radially-extending passages 18 in the member. The member also comprises projections 34 for locating a motor cover 33, slots (32, Figs. 2 and 5 not shown), for receiving square nuts of means for mounting the pumping unit to a suitable support and four legs 30 for locating the motor stator assembly and other motor parts. Two of the legs 30 have guide slots 36 formed therein for positioning the cover 33. The pump casing 3 and impeller 11 are preferably pressed or injection-moulded from plastics material.
