Abstract

1,225,777. Centrifugal pumps. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. June 14, 1968 [June 30, 1967 ], No.30402/67. Heading F1C. [Also in Division H2] A D.C. electric motor driven pump comprises a fixed stator enclosed within an armature casing which forms a sealed chamber and encloses the motor commutator. A fixed external housing 21 supports member 34 which carries stator winding assembly 31 and brush boxes 33. The armature casing 24 comprises armature winding assembly 25 and commutator 26 and is mounted on spindles 27, 28 which rotate in carbon or sintered bronze bearings 29, 30. A centrifugal pump including a helix 37 and centrifugal impeller 38 is mounted on armature casing 24 and pumps fluid from inlet 22 to outlet 39. The pumped fluid is circulated around armature casing 24 and through passages 40, 42 to the bearings. The pump is preferably used for pumping fuel and is designed for mounting under a fuel tank.
