Abstract

1,150,117. Ladders. G. J. MASON. 16 Nov., 1967 [19 Nov., 1966], No. 51907/66. Heading A6L. A safety device for the foot of a ladder comprises a socket 19 pivotally mounted on a flat base plate 11. The device, which may be employed on one stile only for use on stairs, may (as shown) have a spring-loaded pawl and ratchet catch associatad. with one or both ends of the pivot shaft which is integral with the adjusting bolt 15, up which the socket 20 is moved via nuts 16, 17. The end of the stile may be supported on two cross pins 23, as shown, or on a transverse plate. The base plate 11 may have a rubber pad 12 stuck to it.
