Abstract
1,149,030. Cathode materials. CSF-COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. 6 June, 1966 [4 June, 1965], No. 25082/66. Heading H1D. A cathode for a gas-filled electron discharge tube comprises a graphite block 1 in which is embedded an electrically conductive support member 3, such as a rod or hollow cylinder, and which is superficially coated with a layer 2 of metallic tungsten or molybdenum. The metallic layer may be between 0À1 and 1À0 mm. thick and may totally cover the graphite block or cover only that face of the block on the opposite side to the support member. The graphite block may be in the form of a disc, a solid cylinder or, as shown, an annular body 1 with several metal support rods 3 or a hollow metal cylinder providing the support.
