Heating b y electricity. - An electric vulcanizer comprises a twopart pressing- member a, b, the member a being provided with resistance coils and with a mercury thermometer f for controlling an electro-magnetic cut-out m, n, p as soon as the desired temperature is reached. The thermometer f is provided with contacts connected to terminals h, h<1> so that, when the mercury reaches both of these contacts, part of the heating current is shunted through the solenoid p of the cut-out. The switch comprises a fixed contact o, and movable contact n forming one arm of a lever pivoted at l, the other arm carrying a counterweight m. Contact is broken when the solenoid p is energized and raises a non-magnetic plunger q attached to the core of the magnet. Contact may be made again by depressing a finger s on a pivoted lever. The main terminals are shown at K, K<1> and those of the heating-coil at e, e<1>.
