Abstract

1,147,641. Valves. L. STERNE & CO. Ltd. 14 April, 1966 [21 Jan., 1965], No. 2621/65. Heading F2V. A multi-way valve-body is made up by bolting a central member 1 between side plates 2, the body housing a pair of rotary spherical closures 8, 9 seating on resilient-deformable rings 31. Each closure controls flow between a separate inlet 28 and an outlet 29. Closure 8, which is manually actuated by a handle 15, is connected by a dog clutch 27 to the other closure 9; the clutch provides 90 degrees of lost-motion. The axes of the bores 10 through the closures are mutually perpendicular, as shown, when the handle is turned in one direction, or parallel when the direction of rotation is reversed and the lost-motion taken-up.
