Abstract

1,146,709. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. E.H. GREEN. May 3, 1966 [Dec.23, 1965], No. 19594/66. Addition to 1,124,103. Heading F1R. A discharge valve for a pressurized dispensing container comprises a spring-loaded valve member 58 with a face 62 which seals against a gasket 50 in its closed position and is unseated by axial movement, as shown, or by tilting movement, Fig. 8 (not shown), to permit discharge via a metering orifice formed by slot 74, the valve member 58 comprising a cup-shaped portion and a stem portion press-fitted together. The valve member components are plastics mouldings. The valve stem portion is formed with slot 74 and passage 76 and may be fitted into the cup-shaped portion to leave an annular channel 64. The radial width of slot 74 determines the size of its upper opening and hence the rate of discharge. The slot 74 may extend above valve seat 62, and the valve stem may be of the same diameter at its bottom end as at its top end. A rib (100), Fig.4 (not shown), formed on the wall of the valve stem provides a tight fit in the cup-shaped portion of the valve member.
