Abstract
1,146,442. Crimping yarn. KANEGAFUCHI SPINNING CO. Ltd. and SNIA VISCOSA SOC. NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA S.p.A. 13 April, 1966 [14 April, 1965], No. 16147/66. Heading D1F. A thermoplastic multifilament yarn 2 having at least two components of different shrinkage properties is continuously fed into a heated treating bath 10 to develop the crimp in the yarn while it is in a tensionless condition, the yarn being fed from the bath by an arrangement which includes two rollers, e.g. rollers 14, 15 forming a nip beneath the surface of the bath. As shown the yarn 2 is fed to the bath via a guide 8 down which air flows. Guide 8 may be dispersed with and rollers 5, 6 arranged in the surface of the liquid. The bath is heated by a heater 12; alternatively the wall of the bath may be heated or the bath liquid feed may be preheated. The crimped yarn is wound up at 20; a dryer may be provided between the bath and the take up means. In place of rollers 14, 15 there may be a three roller arrangement, an arrangement including a pair of belts on rollers or rollers having gear teeth. As in Fig. 6, not shown, the delivery arrangement may be in a liquid compartment separate from that in which the crimp is developed. In this case crimping compartment (A) may be at 100C while delivery chamber (B) is at room temperature. An example is given with all numerical data.
