Abstract
1,198,850. Crimping yarn. KLINGER MFG. CO. Ltd. 17 Oct., 1967 [19 Oct., 1966], No. 47215/67. Heading D1F. In a process for drawing and stuffer box crimping, for example nylon, polyester, or polypropylene yarn, the yarn is deviated from a straight path between the downstream most draw roll and the feed rolls of the stuffer box so as to engage one of the feed rolls tangentially prior to the nip of the feed rolls. The yarn may be deviated by passage over a roll or pin which may be grooved, and which may apply moisture to the yarn. The yarn may pass through an aperture in a guide plate disposed between the roll or pin and the feed rolls. The stuffer box may be of the type having a toothed wheel to feed the crimped yarn through an arcuate setting chamber.
