Abstract

1,145,851. Bronze - printing machines. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. 24 March, 1966 [26 March, 1965], No. 12978/65. Heading B6C. A paper strip 1 has adhesive applied thereto in a design by a roller 6, and then passes under a guide roller 4 and between an electrode 10 and a roller 7 rotating in a powder reservoir 9. The roller 7 has a covering of emery cloth, whereby it carries powder to the vicinity of the strip. The electrode 10 is electrically charged under the control of a switching device synchronized with the roller 6 when a part of the strip having adhesive thereon passes below it, and produces an electrostatic field across the strip to a grounded electrode in the roller, so that the powder is attracted to the strip. The strip then passes over walls 18, 19 to a suction chamber 16, whereby and by means of a rotating brush 20, powder not adhering to the adhesive is removed. In another form, Fig. 3 (not shown), the strip passes over a charged grid (21) and between it and grounded electrodes (22, 23), whereby and by means of suction, the surplus powder is removed. In another form, Fig. 4 (not shown), baffles (24) are provided in the reservoir, the brush is accommodated between walls (25, 26) of the suction chamber, and further suction through an opening (28) assists in removing the powder.
