Abstract
1,145,148. Endless conveyers; crate filling and emptying machines. GRAHAM-ENOCK MFG. CO. Ltd. 20 Dec., 1967 [23 Dec., 1966], No. 57676/66. Headings B8A and B8C. The arm 1b of a transfer device 1 having heads 1c, 1d, is movable between alternative positions (full-line and dot-dash respectively in Fig. 1). In the first position the head 1c is adapted to pick up empty bottles (not shown) from a crate (not shown) held stationary by stops 3 on a conveyer 2. On moving of the heads to the second position, the head 1c deposits the empty bottles on an outgoing conveyer 4 while the head 1d picks up filled bottles from an incoming conveyer 6. On return to the first position, the head 1d deposits the bottles in the same crate which in the meantime has been released by the stops 3, but is now held again by stops 5. At the same time the head 1c picks up a further supply of empty bottles from a successive crate which is again held by the stops 3. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the heads 1c, 1d are mounted on separate, diametrically opposed arms 1b. In a further modification (Fig. 2, not shown) a single arm 1b carrying a single head, rotates successively through the above four transfer stations.
